New CEVA facility will make vaccines to protect poultry against coccidiosis.

A large chicken vaccine facility just north of Guelph is beginning construction.

Maple Reinders Group announced on Twitter they were chosen to build the 80,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant at 5410 Wellington Road 86, just north of the Guelph auto mall.

The plant, owned by CEVA Animal Health Inc., would make vaccines to protect poultry against coccidiosis, an intestinal disease found in birds and mammals.

CEVA currently owns and operates a facility on Malcolm Road that would neighbour this new facility.

Guelph/Eramosa council approved the application last year with many excited for the potential economic benefits this facility could bring for the agricultural community.

A previous report noted the plant could employ around 40 people.

The City of Guelph is providing water and sewer services and access to the property will be from Governors Road with CEVA covering the cost of extending the road.
